How to take care the Thangka?

1. Display and Storage:

Avoid exposing the thangka to direct sunlight, as it can fade the vibrant colors and damage the silk brocade.

Keep it in a dry, cool environment to prevent mold or humidity-related damage.

If not displayed, roll the thangka carefully with a protective layer of cloth (preferably cotton) and store it in a moisture-proof box.

2. Handling:

Always handle the thangka with clean, dry hands.

Avoid touching the painted surface directly to prevent oils or dirt from degrading the artwork.

3. Cleaning:

Gently dust the thangka using a soft, dry brush. Do not use water, as it can damage the paint and fabric.

If significant cleaning or restoration is needed, consult a professional conservator experienced in thangka preservation.

4. Framing or Mounting:

If you wish to display the thangka long-term, consider framing it behind UV-protected glass for added protection.

Proper care and respect ensure that your thangka remain in excellent condition, preserving their beauty and spiritual significance for generations to come.
