The Lost Wax Technique
The Lost Wax Technique (also known as cire perdue) is a traditional method used in crafting metal statues, particularly in Himalayan art. The process involves creating a detailed wax model of the statue, which is then coated with layers of clay to form a mold. Once the mold hardens, the wax is melted and drained, leaving a cavity. Molten metal is poured into this space, creating the statue. After cooling, the mold is broken to reveal the metal figure, which is then polished and detailed. This intricate method ensures exceptional precision and individuality in every piece.
